Sunday 13th September 2020 saw 17 Dabchick Society Golfers take on the challenge of Shrivenham Park, a mere 5630 yards even off the White Tee’s, huge scores were predicted by some pre round, however just like the recent US Open good scores were few and far between!
Congratulations to our winner – Matt Reynolds with 35 points.
As mentioned above the course although not long does rely on accurate straight shots, if you’re in the wrong position it’ll bite and so this proved. Only 3 players managed scores in the 30’s and half the field only scored 25 points or less. Paul ‘Harry’ Foster a member at Shrivenham did manage 2nd place with 34 points and a superb back 9 of 21 points, however Matt Reynolds was the days Champion, he did admit he decided to keep the driver in the bag after a few early holes and this would seem to have assisted, 15 points out but a superb 20 points in – well done Matt.
Donald Barnes was delighted to present Captain with the ‘buried head’
It is often stated winners are grinners, and certainly there were many who grinned, smiled and smirked when Donald was able to present Captain D’Arcy with the lovely ‘buried head’ trophy – 14 points was the score, wow what a sporting gent I am to prop up the leaderboard!
Speaking of the scores please see the link below with all scores and you can click on a player to see their card.
Congratulations also to our nearest the Pin winners Dave Newham and Barty, but also Paul & Kim Niblock NTP2 and the leading lady but also 4th overall for Kim with 29 points.
Thank you all for the great turnout, I look forward to the next event which is on Sunday 4th Oct at The Manor House, Castle Combe – details can be found below
