Our final ‘Major’ The Autumn Masters was held last Sunday (8th) at Newbury & Crookham Golf Course, our members were welcomed by beautiful golfing weather, but also as always appears to be the case with our visits to Newbury & Crookham a wonderful course in great condition, with a thought to next year selecting this as our Mid Summer Course – the greens play really well then!
Thank you to the 13 golfers who attended and congratulations to all on another enjoyable event.
Competition for the title of Autumn Masters Champion 2019 was close with only a couple of points seperating the top 6 players. A superb +3 Gross front 9 from Chris Faulkner must have had the Irishman thinking he was going to defend his title, however with a dissapointing finish to his round the door was open for others.
13 points through the first 5 holes Captain D’Arcy thought he might be in with a shout of challenging, however the recent form did surface and 32 points wasn’t going to be enough! Phil Snook it appeared had the victory with a very solid back 9 (20 points), however a couple of score card errors on the card meant the original 34 points was actually 32 points meaning he slipped back to 2nd place – note to all players, it is your responsibility to ensure your card is scored correctly and checked when you sign!
Congratulations therefore to Matt ‘Lance’ Reynolds winning with 33 points.

Finals Day Qualifiers:
Clive Snashall & Carl McCulloch, Chris Faulkner & Darrell Procter, Dave Newham & Capt D’Arcy (reserve from commitee) & finally Matt Reynolds & Phil Snook.
Finals Day has been booked and we are at St. Pierre a week Sunday (22nd Sept), we have arranged transport and made the commitee decision of paying for this from Society funds – it’s a 19 seater so lots of room for clubs etc. It means all players will have to pay the £40 green fee, but does allow for what should be a fitting Finals Day. Finals Day will see two competitions being run, the Pairs better ball for the finalists along with a Stableford competion open to all players. 1st tee time 13.27. Old Course.
Can people please let me know if you can make FINALS DAY as we do need to confirm numbers and pay prior to the meeting – along with our transport costs and if you intend to travel with the Society or make your own way.
