Dabchick Society Shield Results – Cumberwell Park 2019

By Keith DArcy Ryan

We did it again! Beautiful weather, a very fair course and some great golf were on offer at yesterdays Dabchick Society Shield competition held at Cumberwell Park.

Cumberwell Park Golf Course was in superb condition, thank you to the 9 golfers who attended and I’m delighted to hear the favourable comments with regards the venue from all members, especially those who hadn’t played at Cumberwell Park before.

Competition for the title of Society Shield Champion 2019 was close with 4 of the 9 competitors scoring in the 30’s. However 2 managed to score 40 & 41 points! We had a debut winner, congratulations Darrell Procter who took the title with a very tidy 41 points, playing off 8. Congratulations also to runner up Jenny Swift with a very nice haul of 40 points. With Darrell already having qualified for Finals Day 2019 at St. Pierre along side Chris Faulkner, the new qualifiers from yesterdays event are Jenny Swift & David Newham.

And our other winners.

Nearest the pin in 2 (5th) was Jenny Swift, Nearest the pin (7th) with a rubbish shot and refelected in the fact he then 3 putted for a bogey was Clifford Snashall – how bad were the rest of our shots? Oh and Chris Faulkner was closer but not on the green…… Nearest the pin in 2 (10th) was that lady again Jenny Swift and picking up the honour of Nearest the Pin (16th) getting his revenge from earlier was Ireland’s favourite son Chris ‘Hardcore’ Faulkner!

After a very pleasant ploughmans lunch we took advantage of the fantastic Par 3 course that Cumberwell offers. It gives me great pleasure to say that the winning team was Keith D’Arcy Ryan, Clive Snashall & Darrell Procter winning by 1 point over the team of Chris Faulkner, David Newman & Simon Barrett! It was all down to the final 9th Hole with Mr Clifford Snashall finally managing to get a PAR!!!!

Please note the date for the Autumn Masters is Sunday 8th September and the location is Newbury & Crookham – who will win the Claret Jug? Details can be found by clicking here

Current Finals Day Qualifiers at St. Pierre on Sunday 22 Sept:
